Local dog rehoming charity DAWGS is opening its new Charity Shop in Alford on Saturday so it can help even more dogs.
And the new shop is not a million miles away from the old one - in fact it is just across the street.
The charity, which was set up over 25 years ago, has given thousands of dogs from across the north-east a second chance by finding them forever homes when their original owners could no longer take care of them.
Until recently its Rehoming Centre was based in Aberdeen and its charity shop in Alford but it recently relocated to larger premises in Alford so it could have both in the same premises.
Work has been progressing on getting the charity shop ready ahead of Saturday’s event.
Both are now based in the Old Bake House on Main Street in Alford - just opposite the old shop.
The charity hopes it will help raise more funds so it can help more dogs through rehoming and in other ways.
DAWGS Chairperson Mary Diack explained: “We receive no statutory funding and rely on donations and our own fundraising efforts to raise the funds we need to maintain our rehoming services and care for dogs in many other ways.
She continued: “It has been a mammoth task for everyone involved to get the shop ready and we would like to thank our managers Lynda and Heather and all our shop volunteers who have done an amazing job I am sure everyone will be impressed when they see the new shop on Saturday.”
The Charity has organised a fun filled day for customers at its opening event with fizz, fun and sweet treats and local celebrity guests radio presenters Jeff and Lauren.
The new Charity Shop is located at the Old Bake House on Main Street in Alford is opening this Saturday, February 22 at 10am and thereafter will be open 10am - 4pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday and from 11- 3pm on Mondays.
