TYSON FURY lied about donating his £7million purse from the Deontay Wilder fight to charity, according to promoter Eddie Hearn.

The self-proclaimed Gypsy King insisted before December’s controversial draw that he would use the huge sum to build homes for alcoholics and drug addicts in the UK.

He was asked whether he kept his promise during a Q&A session with his fans in Cardiff at an Evening With Tyson Fury show.

The 30-year-old replied: “I did give away my last purse but I don’t do charity work for a pat on the back.

“I do it to help people but I do not want praise for it, I don’t want to be called a do gooder.”

But the Matchroom promoter has now insisted that the Gypsy King did not part with his hard-earned cash after the showdown in Los Angeles.

Fury this week told Hearn to give his 70-year-old father Barry “another can of beer and put him back in the cupboard, the old red-faced fool”.

Speaking on IFL TV, the 39-year-old Hearn replied: “One minute he’s giving his entire purse away to charity, which he obviously never did, and on the other hand he’s now going back to his ways of negativity.”

Fury incredibly battled back from depression, drug and alcohol abuse to pull off one of the greatest comebacks in the history of the sport.

The former unified champion’s purse for the fight was around £2.5million, but he would have pocketed around £7m including pay-per-view money.

But Hearn added: “He’s talking about, ‘He’s a boozer, a drinker’. He’s not, but let’s look at history of people.

“You can’t really be pretending you’re this great role model and then talking to people like that.

“So I was disappointed with Tyson’s comments, but it is what it is with him.”
