Billie Eilish have an emotional speech

It was a big night for Billie Eilish at the Brit Awards 2020, as she not only went home with an award but also performed her James Bond theme song for the first time.

The 17-year-old picked up the prize for international female solo artist at the star-studded event at London’s O2 Arena – where she told the crowd: I’ve felt very hated recently.’ ‘When I was on the stage and I saw you guys all smiling at me… it genuinely made me want to cry and I want to cry now.

Billie also took to the stage to deliver her debut performance of No Time To Die, the theme from the upcoming movie of the same name, accompanied by her brother Finneas, as well as Hans Zimmer, Johnny Marr and a huge orchestra.

And that was before she had Stormzy fangirling over her in the winners’ room.

No Time To Die sees Billie teaming up with her brother, who co-wrote the song with her – but who is he, and where are the pair of them from?

What nationality is Billie Eilish?

Billie Eilish is American, and is from Los Angeles.

She was born Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell on 18 December 2001 – meaning she has only just celebrated her 18th birthday.

Billie is the daughter of actress and screenwriter Maggie Baird – who has appeared in the likes of Charmed, Six Feet Under, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The West Wing and Bones – and actor Patrick O’Connell.

She has credited her mother – who homeschooled her and her brother – with inspiring her to get into music, rising to fame after releasing the song Ocean Eyes on SoundCloud in 2015.

That led to her signing a deal with record label and artist management company The Darkroom, with Billie recording several more songs – among them Bored, which features on the soundtrack of 13 Reasons Why – and the Don’t Smile At Me EP, which has been streamed over one billion times on Spotify.

Her debut album When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go was released in 2019 to massive critical acclaim – while she became the first female artist and youngest person ever to win the four main Grammy categories – best new artist, record of the year, song of the year and album of the year – in the same year, triumphing at the 2020 ceremony in February.

He has teamed up with his sister on many occasions including working with her on When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go – and winning Grammys for album of the year, producer of the year (non-classical), and best engineered album (non-classical) for his work on the record.

He has also released music as an artist, with his debut EP Blood Harmony released last October – and is the lead singer of band The Slightlys, as well as working as a producer with the likes of Camila Cabello, Selena Gomez and John Legend.

Finneas has also worked as an actor, most notably in Glee playing the role of Alistair, a recurring character who appeared in the sixth season.
