I’m A Celeb fans caught their first glimpse of Adam during their introduction packages after hosts Ant and Dec introduced them both.

Adam was heard saying: “I’m Adam Woodyatt and I’m probably best known for being a resident of Albert Square and playing Ian Beale for 37 years.”

After reeling off his fears, including snakes and rats, he joked: “I’m gonna be about as much use as a chocolate teapot.”

Before his appearance on the show, the 53-year-old, who was one of the original characters in EastEnders when it launched in 1985, spoke of his excitement and why he’s finally agreed to appear.

“I’ve known about doing I’m A Celebrity for a long time and I can’t wait to go in now. I don’t mind if I am first or last in the castle – I am just really looking forward to being on the show,” he said.

“Why have I finally said yes? Because I am not in EastEnders. That is the honest answer. I am not in contract with the BBC so I can come and do it.

“Everyone thinks I am Ian Beale and so it’s going to be great to show I am not.”

But upon seeing him on screen, fans were stunned by Adam’s new look.
